An admittedly unsuccessful attempt to compel the CRA—who in their right mind would even think to compel the CRA?—led instead to an application to force a pro se litigant to sign something titled “authorization for release of information”

Instead, what the Law Society chose to do was initiate litigation that serves as an open invitation to siphon even more tax dollars from public resources through an obviously devoid, vague, and vexatious “legal challenge.” The objective is …

The entire chain of events turns on Mr. Cape’s decision not to answer a single question: “Are you suicidal?”  He did not say yes. He did not say no. He said, quite plainly, “I’m not going to answer that.”  In most areas of life, this would be …

Racial narrowing targets visible minorities in Canada by disproportionately assigning labels of “mental illness”  based not on medical evidence, but on racialized identity characteristics and social disadvantages. This process reduces …

About us

Pro Se Association

Pro se means “for oneself,” and it reflects the fundamental right of every person to speak for their own case before the courts. The Pro Se Association of Canada is embodied to support and empower individuals who choose not to hire a “lawyer” to represent themselves in legal proceedings. This association for unrepresented litigants is essential because the justice system is not accessible to everyone—even to those who can afford costly legal representation. While lawyers can play any role, they are not always necessary or the best representatives in every situation; no one understands the facts, history, and personal impact of a case better than the person directly involved. Self-representation can also avoid the high financial burden of unnecessary third-party involvement and reduce potential conflicts of interest that may arise when a lawyer’s incentives do not perfectly align with those of the actual party to the litigation. Pro Se Association of Canada promotes informed self-representation, fairness, and equal access to justice for all Canadians.
